Building Memories at Family Weekend

Family Weekend gives families the opportunity to get a closer glimpse of life as a Bronco

Santa Clara University welcomes the parents and families of current students to attend SCU’s Family Weekend this Friday, Feb. 26, through Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., February 24, 2016—Santa Clara University welcomes the parents and families of current students to attend SCU’s Family Weekend this Friday, Feb. 26, through Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016. Come and discover why SCU is nationally recognized for its outstanding academics, faculty, students, and employment opportunities in beautiful Silicon Valley.

“This annual tradition is a great opportunity for students to share firsthand with their families their experiences of life at SCU,” said Cameron Barrilleaux, assistant director for new student and parent Programs at the Center for Student Leadership.

Family Weekend encourages families to explore all that Santa Clara University offers its students. The schedule for this year’s event is packed full of options to choose from: Families can attend informational sessions on SCU’s various programs and offerings, experience the excitement of a Bronco sporting event, get a sneak preview of the new Edward M. Dowd Art and Art History Building now under construction, enjoy our gorgeous Mission Gardens, and lots more.

“We encourage all families to join us at the President’s Welcome in the Mission Church on Friday afternoon followed by the Provost’s reception on the beautiful Mission Gardens,” said Alissa Novak, associate director of the Center for Student Leadership. “We expect this to be an eventful and memorable weekend for all families visiting us.”

Be sure not to miss Saturday’s BBQ lunch or the chance to laugh at the award-winning interactive ComedySportz show. If that’s not your cup of tea, grab tickets to the Pasta Feed and Bronco Legends Celebration featuring a delicious pasta buffet, beverages, face painting, performances by the spirit squads, and a short ceremony honoring this year's Bronco Legend, former coach and athletic director, Carroll Williams. Following the event, head over to the Leavey Center to cheer on the men's basketball team as they take on conference rival University of the Pacific. If your Bronco is a senior, dance the night away with live music at the Senior Parent Dinner Dance.

There’s lots to do at this year’s Family Weekend so pack your bags and start creating memories.
