Jerry Kerr, the executive director of the Santa Clara University Alumni Association, has dedicated 31 years of service to Santa Clara University. As a student at Santa Clara, he led the movement to bring football back to Santa Clara in the fall of 1959. He also was an active leader  in the recruiting of Pat Malley to return to campus as the head coach. It is even said that he recruited a number of players on the '62 Baseball team, one of the best teams in school history. Among these players were top football players, Ron Calcagno and Ron Cook. During his three decades as executive director of the Alumni Association, the alumni membership grew to 60,000, including 1,400 volunteer leaders in 53 chapters that sponsor more than 240 events per year. Kerr spearheaded several Alumni Association initiatives, including the Ignatian Awards, which recognize alumni who have demonstrated outstanding service to others, and also the Alumni Family Scholarship Program, that provides more than 100 scholarships every year to undergraduates who are related to alumni.
