Joseph J. Mariani
  • Inducted in 1978

Joseph and Louis Mariani (Jack and Lou) were born in Komiža, Croatia, an island in the Adriatic Sea. After moving to the United States, Jack and Lou went their separate ways with Jack going to Alaska to become a fisherman and Lou coming to California. After serving in the Navy during World War II, the brothers went on to become central figures in the Santa Clara community, founding their own motel and restaurant on El Camino Real and actively serving on many local civic boards and commissions. Serving on one of the first Bronco Bench Foundation Board of Trustees, the Mariani brothers established the Jack and Lukra endowment, one of Santa Clara’s first athletic scholarship endowments.
