Bud Ogden was able to lead the Broncos to what are probably some of the best years in Santa Clara basketball history. As a sophomore in 1967, Ogden posted a 55-point game against Pepperdine, which still stands as the Santa Clara single-game scoring record. Boasting a record of 70-10 from 1967-1971, Bud was able to help Santa Clara reach the NCAA Tournament Regional Final two years in a row, before falling both times to a National Championship UCLA team, led by Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar). Just months before being drafted to the Philadelphia 76er’s, Bud was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Years later, Bud had his Santa Clara jersey number 34 retired, and also became a member of the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
