Art Santo Domingo
  • Inducted in 2006

Santo Domingo, a Duke graduate, came to San Francisco in 1962 and where he began working for the Giants. There he met many Broncos and began to follow their teams. In 1967 he co-founded the annual Santa Clara Cable Car Classic Men’s Basketball Tournament to encourage more intersectional play. Then in 1977, he moved the tournament from the San Francisco Civic Auditorium to SCU’s Toso Pavilion. The Classic is the longest-running holiday tournament in the nation.  The tournament has hosted a number of basketball stars: Michael Jordan, James Worthy, Steve Nash and Kurt Rambis. Santo Domingo remains a loyal and generous Bronco supporter and attends most of the basketball games, both home and away.
