Malley began his Santa Clara career as a quarterback from 1973-1976, under the leadership of his father, the legendary Pat Malley. After learning from the best, Terry Malley stepped up and took over as Head Coach in 1985 when his father passed. During his first season, Malley led the Broncos to an 8-2-1 record and was named Western Football Conference Coach of the Year. Malley finished with a 49-33-1 record before moving on to the Arena Football League. He would go on to be an Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Coach to the San Jose Sabercats. During his career, the Sabercats won three Arena Bowl Championships. Malley's coaching career culminated in a short time spent acting as the Assistant Coach at San Jose State.
