Raphael Ritson-Williams

Adjunct Lecturer

I am an Adjunct Professor in Biology at Santa Clara University, where I teach a range of classes from marine ecology to genetics. I have published over 50 journal articles on the patterns of marine biodiversity and the impact of ecological processes on community composition. Overall, in my research, I use molecular techniques to better understand how marine creatures respond to and resist habitat degradation and climate change. I am also a Research Associate at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, where I study coral reef ecology, climate change, and algal and invertebrate biodiversity. I received my Master’s degree from the University of Guam and my Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii where my dissertation focused on the genomics of coral resilience to thermal stress.
