IGNATIAN 201
Encountering the Jesuit Mission in our local communities
This four-part series invites faculty and staff to engage more deeply with our Jesuit-Catholic Tradition through active commitment to our local communities. This program will address the role of a Jesuit University as a social actor, anchored in two key moments: 1) the review of the intellectual legacy of Jesuit Higher Education, and 2) the participation in an immersive experience outside SCU.
Therefore, in partnership with the Community Engaged Student Learning Team, this program will include an Urban Plunge on Friday, April 24, 2026, in the Bay Area. This is an intense one-day immersive experience with local partners to practice deep listening and accompaniment, recognizing the unjust structures, the suffering, and the joys in our local communities. At the end of the program, we will invite participants to brainstorm concrete ways in which we are called to commit ourselves more profoundly to the wounds and the flourishing of our society.
