Carolyn Do Fellowship 17-18

I believe this immersion trip will further my aspirations of becoming a well rounded, people-oriented business leader. In the time and age of technological advancements, corporations and high stake individuals become more successful while those in impoverished community suffer at their expense. I want to change this paradigm by ensuring that a social consciousness informs each of my professional actions. I believe all companies must work towards social responsibility- this starts from the efforts of the employees within the company and the acknowledgement of the injustice that occurs outside of their success. For me, I hope to be the employee that spearheads the effort to help our society. This immersion trip will fuel me with lasting knowledge and passion to achieve my goal.

Growing up in an underprivileged environment made me appreciate all of the milestones I’ve been able to achieve as a college student with a promising career lined up. Once I become the first white collar worker in my family, I vouch to become a resource to the community that I grew up in. This immersion trip will not only broaden my perspective of the outside world that is often times forgotten, it will empower and shape my ambitions as a working professional.
