I selected this trip because I assume this experience will allow me to help with everyday duties and getting some kind of one-on-one talks with the residents to truly build a bond with the community. Other reasons why I selected this trip is because I have never been outside of Mexico and the U.S., so I thought it would be a great experience to see a whole new area. But most importantly because I one day want to make my own non-profit in frugal engineering and to do so, I need experience in what communities actually need and don’t need. I aspire to help others and having this trip be in a different country, with my LEAD community and given the chance to help all in one package sounds perfectly in line with my goals and aspirations I have here at SCU.
