Inclusive Excellence Postdoctoral Fellowship: Julio Puente-García

Julio Puente García is currently our Inclusive Excellence Postdoctoral Fellow (2018-2020). He received his Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2016. He specializes in contemporary Latin American literature, Mexican and Mexican-American narrative and film, social movements, and migration studies. He has published the book chapter “Juan Rulfo and the Mexican Novel of the Twenty-First Century: The Case of David Toscana’s El último lector (2005),” and the interview “De viajes, cuentos y literatura (nacional): entrevista con Ignacio Padilla.” He completed his B.A. and M.A. in Spanish Literature at Fresno State where he was awarded the Dean’s Medal in the College of Arts and Humanities for his graduate work and contributions to the campus community (2011). He has taught in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UCLA and Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies at Cal State, LA.
