A Day to Give, A Day to Compete

A spirited Bronco couple, Taylor ’05 and Robin Bedilion ’05 compete to see who can raise more on Day of Giving 2020: Men’s Tennis? Or Women’s Cross-Country?

Even among a couple in love, the competitive nature of Bronco athletes cannot be understated. Inspired to support his former team, Taylor Bedilion ’05 and two of his fellow tennis alumni, Francisco Zepponi and Benito Hidalgo, put up $7,500 as a participation challenge for Day of Giving this year, leading to 89 gifts and $18,040 total raised for men’s tennis. However, when his wife Robin (Bell) Bedilion ’05 caught wind of this plan, she knew she couldn’t just stand by and let him take this victory unchallenged. As a women’s cross country alumna, Robin thrives on motivation and drive, and has remained active in the running community since her tenure at SCU. Remarkably, she is on her way to run a marathon in all 50 states, having already completed 27. It is no surprise that she connected with her parents, also Bronco alumni, David and Ann (Barbieri) Bell ’72, to create their own challenge gift of $5,000 supporting women’s cross country, resulting in 99 gifts and $16,183 raised on Day of Giving.

Robin and Taylor met on campus, and clearly still embody the Bronco spirit to this day. Perhaps we’ll be seeing similar ambition in their 6 month old Baby Bronco, Weston, during Day of Giving 2055!
