New Student Orientation Session
Below is important information if you are attending the in-person New Student Orientation session on September 16, 2026.

Additional Information
Early Move-In
- Students attending this Orientation session in September and who will be living in the residence halls for the 2026-27 academic year will be approved to move in the day prior (September 15) to this session.
- Please do not contact the Housing Office to request an early move-in request; our Orientation staff will do that on your behalf.
- However, please make sure you receive a confirmation email around late August or first week of September that will state your revised move-in date from September 18 to September 15.
Items to Bring
Parking Permit
- Parking permits will be available starting in July.
- If you are driving to campus, please print the parking permit for your session and display it on your vehicle's dashboard when you arrive.
- Free parking permits will also be provided during check-in.
- We recommend you park in either the Main Parking structure or the North Campus Garage.
- Once you arrive on campus, Orientation Leaders will guide you from the parking garage to where check-in will be.
Check-In & Check-Out
- Check-in will be from 7:30am – 8:20am.
- We provide a light breakfast starting at 7:30am.
- Lunch and dinner are also provided.
- If you are running late, please contact our office via email at orientation@scu.edu; we are unable to monitor the phone line while an Orientation session is in progress.
- The last part of this Orientation session ends at 5:00pm, then dinner is served from 5:00pm – 6:30pm.
Travel Accommodations
- If needed, students, parents, and other family members are responsible for arranging their own overnight accommodations off campus.

Wireless (Wifi) for Students
- Name of Wireless Network: eduroam
- Use this network at any time, even during the academic year.
- Authenticated (use your SCU login and password).
- MySCU Portal and services in MySCU Portal are available.
Wireless (Wifi) for Parents & Families
- Name of Wireless Network: SCU-Guest
- Not authenticated (no password required - usage agreement check-box).
- Connection time is limited (8 hours - before prompted to agree to usage terms again).
- Some SCU services are NOT available (including MySCU Portal).
