Elden Eckman played basketball and golf for Santa Rosa Jr. College and Santa Clara University. He received awards and honors for athletic excellence in both sports. Eckman was inducted into both schools Sports Hall of Fames. After graduation from SCU in 1935, Eckman served five years in the Army Air Corps as a Special Services officer.
