Herman Mettler was known as the left halfback who could find yardage when nothing else was there. Mettler standing at 6’1” and weighing 192 pounds was shifty but also a hard running back to bring down. Mettler was dangerous in the open field as he could go through you or past you. Mettler averaged around 6 yards per carry, while also being an excellent passer for the Broncos.
