The Math Learning Center (MLC) is a community of mathematical thinkers who connect with each other in order to learn together and achieve their goals. Students learn through individual tutoring and study groups. Tutors and students also have some opportunities to grow and work together during special events throughout the quarter.

Diversity Statement
The Mathematics Learning Center at Santa Clara University fosters diversity in all of its dimensions and supports mathematics students in reaching their personal academic goals. All students, with their unique life experiences, worldviews, languages and voices, are respected and welcomed. We provide an environment that is conducive to diverse learning styles and unique learning challenges. We also work with others to pursue justice and remedy current and historical inequities in higher education. Our center embraces the humanity of all people, celebrating the contributions each individual makes to the Math Learning Center, to Santa Clara University, and the wider community.
MLC Director
Linda Burks has always enjoyed mathematics and been eager to share that joy with others. She has taught problem solving on many levels, trained advanced students to work with younger students, and provided active opportunities for students to see the beauty of mathematics. Before coming to Santa Clara University in 2016, Linda earned her M.S. in mathematics and Ph.D. in mathematics education from the University of Michigan. Her research interests include effective ways of teaching problem solving and developing resources for achieving success in undergraduate mathematics education.
