First Year July Session Details

First Year Orientation Sessions

Below is important information if you are attending any of the following in-person First Year Orientation sessions:

  • Session 1: July 8-9, 2026
  • Session 2: July 13-14, 2026
  • Session 3: July 16-17, 2026
  • Session 4: July 20-21, 2026
  • Session 5: July 23-24, 2026
  • Session 6: July 27-28, 2026

Additional Information

Items to Bring

Parking Permit

  • Parking permits will be available starting in June.
  • If you are driving to campus, please print the parking permit for your session and display it on your vehicle's dashboard when you arrive.
  • Free parking permits will also be provided during check-in.
  • We recommend you park in the North Campus Garage off of Benton Street, between Alviso Street and the Alameda.
  • Once you arrive on campus, Orientation Leaders will guide you from the parking garage to where check-in will be.

Check-In & Check-Out

  • Check-in will be from 7:30am – 8:20am on Day 1 of your session.
  • We provide a light breakfast starting at 7:30am.
  • If you are running late, please contact our office via email at orientation@scu.edu; we are unable to monitor the phone line while an Orientation session is in progress.
  • Please note that if you are running significantly late and we do not receive prior notification, we may have to reschedule your Orientation session.
  • The session ends on Day 2 no later than 2:00pm which is when students check out of Swig Residence Hall and depart back home or explore campus more on their own.

Parents & Families

  • Parents and other family members are responsible for arranging their own overnight accommodations off campus.

Wireless (Wifi) for Students

  • Name of Wireless Network: eduroam
  • Use this network at any time, even during the academic year.
  • Authenticated (use your SCU login and password).
  • MySCU Portal and services in MySCU Portal are available.

Wireless (Wifi) for Parents & Families

  • Name of Wireless Network: SCU-Guest
  • Not authenticated (no password required - usage agreement check-box).
  • Connection time is limited (8 hours - before prompted to agree to usage terms again).
  • Some SCU services are NOT available (including MySCU Portal).
