Workday Student

News

  • As many of you are already aware, Santa Clara University is moving from eCampus to the Workday Student information system. Workday is currently live in production found on your MySCU Workday tile, but it's important to note that Fall 2023 will be the first term you will register for courses in Workday. All Spring 23 and Summer 23 term enrollments will still be in eCampus.

  • After eight years of effort, including five years of implementation activities, Workday Student is live! The new student system that we launch today is the culmination of 20 months of planning, configuring, and testing. Hundreds of your colleagues put in literally thousands of hours to get us to this point.

  • Workday Student is live on the SCU campus - and you probably didn’t even notice! MTP1 - the first phase of “Move-to-Production'' - went live last month as Admissions and Financial Aid staff began processing new student applications.

  • The first phase of our Workday Student system is now in production. This achievement reflects the work of over one hundred of your coworkers who put in literally thousands of hours of effort over the last 15 months. The successful implementation of this first phase (known to us as Move To Production One, or MTP1) also builds upon the successful implementations of Workday Human Capital Management (HR) in 2019 and Workday Finance in 2021.

  • Last quarter the Workday Student Change Management team conducted several listening sessions with faculty and staff to hear concerns and hopes for how the new Workday Student system can meet their needs. We learned a lot - most importantly, we learned that you want to be heard and to participate in the process.

  • I wanted to update you on our progress in implementing the Workday Student system. Over 110 of our SCU colleagues have been working on the Workday Student implementation since July 2021. Full implementation will occur in 2023, although a limited number of functional modules will come online in late 2022. I think it’s useful to briefly review how we got to this point, our current status of the implementation, and our plans going forward.

  • The Workday Student Change Management team would like to thank everyone who participated in the Change Readiness Survey and focus groups. We were able to gather useful information due to the honest feedback from faculty and staff. We would like to share some of the high level themes we found and our next steps.

  • Last week we alerted you that SCU has begun the process of moving to Workday from PeopleSoft for our Student Information System (eCampus). The new system will go live in several phases, beginning in October 2022 (notice, this is not a pivot.

  • Since the Spring of 2020, we’ve shown ourselves to be resilient, nimble, and ready to pivot. During this unprecedented time, we’ve learned new ways of doing our jobs; baked bread and changed diapers during Zoom meetings; met our colleagues' pets, kids, and partners. We’ve talked about the post-COVID new normal and imagined a reset.
