Jackie Hendricks's Students Publish Article in Virtual Journal
Over the summer, I had the privilege of teaching a new online advanced writing course to a small group of students. In this redesigned version of English 176, the student learned all of the facets of professional academic writing. Working around a pop culture theme, they wrote critical reviews, held a virtual academic conference, and published an article in our virtual journal, Pop Culture Intersections. Their articles are now posted in Scholar Commons for all to enjoy, and I invite all of you to peruse them at your leisure. Many of the papers examine the troubling effects of social media, such as lifestyle envy, loss of privacy, depression, terrorism, piracy, and damage to personal relationships. There's also an examination of technology in public schools, and a piece on the way television has represented abortion.
