Quarterly Lecturer

Colton Brandau received his PhD in Native American Studies at the University of California, Davis, in December 2023. His research focuses on Alaska Native History and their experiences with Russian and US colonialism, memory and memorialization projects in settler and Native American contexts, and relations between Indigenous Peoples across the Native North Pacific, including California, the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Hawaii, and Siberia. His in-progress book manuscript, A Relational Confluence: Sugpiat and Dena’ina Histories of Remembrance in the Native North Pacific, examines Sugpiat and Dena'ina Native Peoples' relations, testimonies, and memories to unsettle both narratives of colonialism and historical understandings of 'Alaska' and 'Alaska Natives.'
