History Major Zipporah Ridley ’17: Summer in Ghana

Zipporah Ridley, a senior history major, spent two months this summer in Ghana working with the Bright Generation Community Foundation.

Zipporah Ridley, a senior history major from Philadelphia, spent two months this summer in Ghana working with the Bright Generation Community Foundation. She worked with this NGO as a fellow in the Global Fellows Program, directed by the Leavey School of Business. Zipporah principally worked with the educational endeavors of Bright Generation. She was based in Kumasi and assisted local people in the rural areas outside the city. She was engaged in developing tools for impact assessment. She created a survey for students, parents, and school officials to evaluate the Foundation’s efforts in providing enhanced educational opportunities for young girls. She also worked with the Foundation’s social media outreach and developed a number of items for its website.

Zipporah attended the Girard Academic Music Program in Philadelphia and came to Santa Clara as a history major. She has been heavily involved in campus life. She has served as co-chair of Igwebuike and has been an active member of the Unity 4 coalition. She has worked with Residence Life, serving as Neighborhood Representative for the University Villas. She is currently investigating the possibility of law school after graduation.
