Vari Fellows

Vari Italian Studies Fellowship

Congratulations to Grace Lin-Cereghino and Gabi Ballardo the two recipients of the inaugural Vari Italian Studies Fellowship!

Vari Italian Studies Fellows exemplify the best of a Jesuit education and receive awards for meaningful personalized learning opportunities such as faculty-mentored research assistantships, and mentored community-based internships. These awards are to support outstanding Italian Studies students at SCU. This initiative at SCU is generously supported by Dr. Victor and Julia Botto Vari.

Grace Lin Cereghino

Grace Lin Cereghino will be a Vari Italian Studies Student Fellow at the Museo Italo Americano in San Francisco during Summer 2020. She is a rising senior from Stockton, California. She is so excited to be a Vari Italian Studies Fellow at the Museo Italo Americano this summer, where she'll be assisting (remotely) with their language classes and art exhibits! Grace is majoring in Italian Studies and Public Health Science with a minor in Urban Education, and she plans on going into teaching after graduation.

Gabriella Ballardo

Gabriella Ballardo will be at the Italian American Heritage Foundation in San Jose during Summer 2020. She is from Concord, California, and is a senior at Santa Clara University (SCU) double majoring in Environmental Studies and Italian Studies.  Most people know her as Gabi. Gabi has a passion for sustainability, writing, art, and design (particularly fashion).  She is deeply interested in learning about cultures, including her Italian-American heritage, and understanding how people’s behaviors impact the environment through the influence of their perceptions.  Gabi hopes to one day work in a profession that allows her to combine her interests to promote the wellbeing of others and the environment.
