Sean Yeh

Hsin-hung (Sean) Yeh

Associate Teaching Professor

Hsin-hung (Sean) Yeh is an Associate Teaching Professor of Chinese at Santa Clara University, where he has taught since 2020. Born and raised in Taiwan, he moved to the U.S. in 2010 and taught Chinese full-time at Harvard University for five years (2010–2015). Since 2014, he has also been a regular instructor at the Middlebury Chinese Summer School. In 2015, he relocated to the Bay Area to pursue his Ph.D. in Chinese Linguistics at Stanford University. His research interests include Chinese/Sinophone linguistics (lexical semantics, morphology, and information structure), sociolinguistics (style and language ideology/attitudes), L2 Chinese pedagogy, and language proficiency assessment. He is a certified Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) tester and Writing Proficiency Test (WPT) rater with ACTFL. In addition to his role at Santa Clara University, since Fall 2024 he has also taught Taiwanese language as a lecturer at UC Berkeley.
