John Farnsworth summer research

John Farnsworth (Environmental Studies and Sciences) is researching a book on long-term ecological studies and projects. He spent the last half of June at the Hastings Natural History Reservation participating in a 43-year-long study on cooperative breeding behaviors of acorn woodpeckers. He is currently at the Santa Cruz Island Reserve, observing collaborative recovery efforts for two endangered species, the island fox and Hoffmann's rock cress. His other stop this summer was at the Santa Barbara Zoo, where he participated in the annual meeting of the inter-agency Island Fox Working Group.
