Sue Khalipa awarded the Dean's Service Award

Dean's Service Award
In recognition of exemplary service in support of the College of Arts and Sciences. By honoring such leaders, the College demonstrates its commitment to College, University, community, and/or professional service as essential to our mission, governance, and enhancing our community of teaching scholars, student advocates, and University citizens.

For seventeen years, Sue has been the heart and soul of the dean’s office. Students, faculty members and fellow staff members, without exception, know when they are in the dean’s suite because Sue is there with her smile, laugh, and helpful disposition. Workday’s challenges will be managed, contracts will be issued, bills will be paid, and the person or persons working with Sue leave the interaction with the comfort that all will be well. There’s never a need to worry, for Sue will take care of it.

What sets Sue apart and makes her so deserving of this award is how well she represents the best in all of us. When thinking about the university’s laudable mission—its selfless dedication to the service of others in hopes of making the world a little more joyous—what better embodiment can there be than Sue? She authentically wants the best for everyone she encounters, regardless of role at the university or previous experience she has had with the person. Doing the right thing for the right reasons is not only what Sue does; it’s who she is.

Sue is also unquestionably the College’s most ardent community-builder—whether it’s a holiday party, retirement celebration or a staff appreciation event, Sue will make it fun, meaningful, goofy, and joyful. Doing all this with her radiant smile, she makes sure that the world is a bit brighter every day.

For this selfless and joyous service to our students, faculty, and staff, Sue is truly deserving of this year’s College Service Award.
