Mukta Sharangpani is an interdisciplinary feminist scholar-teacher-activist with a critical research focus on gender-based violence, a transnational teaching practice, and decades of community activism in the field of rape crisis and Domestic violence. She is trained as a cultural anthropologist and holds an MA and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Stanford University. She incorporates service-based learning and social change through art, music, and poetry in all her syllabi. She teaches lower and upper-division classes across gender studies, queer studies, film studies and leisure studies. Her published research examines the relatively unexplored margins of kinship, culture, and violence in urban India and the Indian Diaspora. Her current research involves family studies, food studies and animal studies.
