GRADUATE COMMENCEMENT
Santa Clara University will host three traditional Commencement ceremonies for our graduate students in Stevens Stadium.

  • Each graduate may bring eight (8) pre-registered guests. All guest tickets will be scanned and verified before entry.
  • Class of 2023 graduates, dressed in academic attire, will have their name read aloud, receive their diploma cover, and have their photo taken by a professional photographer as they cross the stage.
  • The Commencement ceremony will be livestreamed for all to view and the link will be posted on the Commencement website.
  • Purchase your academic attire by May 21, 2023.

COMMENCEMENT REGISTRATION VIA MARCHING ORDER

Later today, you will receive an email from commencement@scu.edu granting you access to the Commencement registration system, Marching Order. Once you log into Marching Order and set a password, you will be able to register to participate in Commencement, review the phonetic pronunciation of your name, and register your guests.

MARCHING ORDER GUEST TICKETS

Once you have registered yourself and your guests, you will have the ability to email your guests their tickets.

  • Guest Tickets each have their own unique QR code and are required for entry. Only one scan per ticket will be allowed.
  • Each graduate will receive eight (8) guest tickets. You have the option to modify all eight (8) guest tickets up until June 10.  If you need additional tickets, we recommend checking with other graduates to see if they have tickets they will not be using. The Commencement Office will not be able to grant additional tickets to graduates. Children two and under do not require a ticket to Commencement.
  • A Grad Pass for each graduate is also required for entry. Your Grad Pass will be scanned before you cross the stage in order for your name to be read aloud. Grad Passes will be made available to all graduates who are registered via Marching Order on Monday, May 22. Students will also receive ‘day-of’ Commencement line-up instructions on this date.

* Due to the high traffic on the Marching Order website, you may experience delays when submitting your registration. Thank you for your patience.

Participating in Commencement

Knowing the difference between graduation versus commencement helps students navigate the end of their academic career at Santa Clara. Graduation is the successful completion of all course and unit requirements. Doctoral and master's candidates must petition to graduate directly through their respective program:

Graduate Program in Pastoral Ministries

School of Education & Counseling Psychology

School of Engineering

School of Law

Jesuit School of Theology

Leavey School of Business

Commencement is the end-of-spring ceremony celebrating the students who have or will graduate. The Commencement Office coordinates the in-person ceremony. An online request form to participate in Commencement will be made available for eligible students in Spring Quarter. Students in the School of Law or Jesuit School of Theology attend separate Commencement ceremonies, and will receive information directly from their respective school.
