Faculty and Staff Retreats
The Ignatian Center hosts three all-expenses-paid retreats every year for SCU faculty and staff. The retreats are grounded in Ignatian Spirituality, but are adapted for a spiritually diverse faculty and staff. Participants must complete an application and priority is given to faculty and staff who are new to Ignatian Spirituality.
2026-2027 Retreat Offerings
Embodying Spiritual Practice: An Ignatian Retreat
September 8-11, 2026 | Villa Maria del Mar
Through the generous support of the Bannan Endowment, the Ignatian Center is hosting a three-day summer retreat for faculty, staff, and administrators. Drawing from our unique Ignatian tradition, each day will feature spiritual practices that engage the five senses and provide the spiritual sustenance needed to more fully live out the mission of our University and prepare for the academic year. Silence will be observed until 6pm each day.
Ignatian Nourishment
December 14-16, 2026 | Villa Maria del Mar
Spend two days and two nights at Villa Maria del Mar, an oceanfront retreat house in Santa Cruz. There will be plenty of time for rest, silence, and renewal as we take a gentle journey into the heart of our university: Ignatian Spirituality. We hope faculty and staff from any religious, secular, or spiritual identity feel supported and welcomed in this experience.
Application will open in October
The Interior Map: An Enneagram & Ignatian Retreat
Date TBD | Villa Maria del Mar
The Enneagram provides insights into our core motivations, values, and behaviors, helping us recognize our strengths, blind spots, and areas for growth. It helps people better understand themselves and their relationships, both personally and professionally. This retreat for faculty and staff will fuse Enneagram and Ignatian insights, with special attention given to discernment and interior movements.
Application will open in the Winter quarter
"The retreat was like going to a spiritual well and drinking deeply. It gave me strength and perspective that will help me in my role at SCU."
