Fr. Endres began teaching at the Jesuit School of Theology in 1982 and taught courses in Psalms, Wisdom and Deuterocanonical Books, Intertestamental Literature and the Dead Sea Scrolls. He had a distinguished career in writing and editing, having published books on the Psalms, the historical books of the Old Testament, and traditions shared by ancient Jewish and Christian literature. He served as associate editor for the Catholic Biblical Quarterly from 1993-2000. Over the years, he led study tours and pilgrimages for his students to Turkey, Israel, and other places around the world to help deepen his students’ experience of their theological studies. The JST community has lost a kind and wonderful teacher, colleague, and friend, and we pray for his eternal rest.
