The LEAD Scholars Program provides current LEAD Scholars with leadership opportunities such as becoming part of the LEAD Week Staff. There are opportunities to lead a group of mentees as a Peer Mentor, actively participate in the first-year seminar courses with a seminar instructor as a Seminar Peer Educator, or the CTW courses as an English Peer Educator.

Armando Abarca
Senior LEAD Week Assistant

Hi, my name is Armando Abarca. I am rising senior from Los Banos, California studying Finance. My favorite part about coming to SCU has definitely been all the new perspectives that I’ve learned through talking to others.

A few fun facts about me are that I love staying active through lifting and playing basketball. I enjoy listening to podcasts and exploring philosophical questions. Might be slightly controversial, but I believe that reheated pizza is better than pizza when you first get it.

In addition to LEAD, I am a part of the University Honors Program, the Phi Delta Theta social fraternity, SCU Barbell, and Klesis. I highly recommend all incoming first years to try a bunch of clubs/orgs because you’ll never know who you’ll meet and what you’ll like unless you put yourself out there!

I look forward to meeting all of you!
