The LEAD Scholars Program

Transfer Peer Mentors and Educators support our new transfer students throughout their first year at Santa Clara University. Peer mentors create community during LEAD Week, meet regularly with their mentees throughout their first year and plan activities for their mentoring groups. Transfer peer educators are a source of support and information in the Advanced LEAD Seminar class that introduces transfer students to SCU resources and leadership opportunities.

Transfer Peer Mentor

Hi my name is Yajaira Orozco I am from the Bay Area Redwood City to be exact. I am a senior studying Environmental studies with a minor in ethnic studies, sustainability. My favorite course I've taken at SCU so far has been ceramics, and race/mass incarceration with Dr.Griffin.

A few fun facts about me, I enjoy going on hikes and being outdoors 90%of the time, I am a transfer student and I can eat 7 tacos in one sitting on a good day :)

In addition to LEAD, some other organizations I am involved in are: tUrn, hermanas unidas, ASL, and have participated in immersions through the Ignatian center.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you!
