Francisco Jiménez Visits Local Middle and High Schools

Francisco Jiménez, professor emeritus, (Modern Languages & Literatures) gave a lecture on his writing to all first-year students at an assembly at Los Gatos High School on October 2. (All first-year students were required to read his book Breaking Through.) Notre Dame High School in San Jose selected his book Reaching Out for their 13th Annual Notre Dame Reads program in which students and the broader community read the same book and build a program around it. As part of the Notre Dame Reads Program, he gave a talk to the student body in the morning and another talk to parents, alumni, and community members in the evening on October 9. He made an author visit to Keys Middle School in Palo Alto, October 18. He also made a two-day author visit to Christopher Grant High School in Gilroy, October 23-24. He made presentations on his work to six different groups of 100 students in each group, followed by Q&A.
