German at SCU
For the tenth time in a row, a group of German students participated in the University of Freiburg’s International Summer program held in the heart of Germany’s Green City, located in the southwest corner of Germany. This remarkable anniversary would not have been possible without the steady support of Geoff and Josie Fox, who have generously helped defray program costs for students since its inception in 2006.
SCU students deepened their oral and written competence of German in daily intensive language classes and an afternoon seminar about local as well as regional culture held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Outside of class, students explored some of the city’s ecological avant-garde neighborhoods and its rich culture heritage, for example, Freiburg Minster. Excursions to the historic Schauinsland Mine Museum, among others, rounded out students’ learning experience giving them a better understanding of Freiburg’s allure.
