Mohammed Kadalah discusses the translation of “Welcome to the New World”

This panel discussed the story behind Welcome to the New World, a graphic novel that chronicles a refugee family's journey from Syria to Connecticut, USA. Mohammed Kadalah, Arabic Lecturer, not only translated the novel, but was also instrumental in gaining the trust of the Syrian refugee family featured in the novel. He encouraged them to open up about their experiences in Syria which facilitated the creation and translation of this Pulitzer Prize winning work.
