Text-to-Speech in Your Operating System

Here are some text-to-speech features that may be included by default with your operating system.

Speak Selection on Mac

If you can highlight text, you can easily hear it read aloud with Speak Selection on Mac.

Accessibility Reader on Mac

Accessibility Reader can read aloud text from other apps on your Mac. It can also help remove distractions and let you customize the font and background colors.

Speak Screen on iPhone and iPad

Select to Speak on Android

Android devices can easily and quickly read aloud text on your screen using Select to Speak.

What about Windows?

Windows doesn't include a lightweight text-to-speech feature in the same way as Mac or Android. However, Windows does come with a screen reader called Narrator, and you can use Morphic to easily read aloud selected text.
