Petition to Graduate

Congratulations!

You are nearing the end of your academic career here at

Santa Clara University. Below are the steps to petition to graduate.

**Please note: If you are looking for information regarding the June Commencement Ceremony (i.e. cap/gown, tickets, picnic information, etc) please visit www.scu.edu/commencement.

**These Steps are for Undergraduate Students. Graduate Students should contact their department for information on graduation.

STEP 1: Check your degree audit!

Students are responsible for knowing their graduation requirements. This is most easily done by checking your degree audit. Your degree audit will show you any unsatisfied requirements. All degree audit requirements must be satisfied in order to graduate. If you are unsure why a requirement is unsatisfied, please contact your department or your record analyst at AcademicRecords@scu.edu.

STEP 2: Complete your Pre-Graduation Evaluation

Students must have a pre-graduation evaluation filled out for each major (i.e. if you have three or more majors, you need to complete two pre-graduation evaluations). Contact your department/academic advisor/department chair to find out the steps to have your pre-graduation evaluation completed and signed (each department is different). Complete the online Pre-Graduation Evaluation form and submitted by the deadlines below:

  • Fall 2022 - Friday, October 7, 2022 (Last day to petition for degrees to be conferred in December 2022)
  •
Winter 2023 - Friday, January 27, 2023 (Last day to petition for degrees to be conferred in March 2023)

  • Spring 2023 - Friday, February 24, 2023 (Last day to petition for degrees to be conferred in June 2023)

  • Summer 2023 - Friday, April 28, 2023 (Last day to petition for degrees to be conferred in September 2023)

STEP 3: Submit your Diploma Name and Address

Students must submit a diploma name and address. This information is used to order your diploma and to list your name in the Commencement program. Click here for directions on how to complete your diploma name and address.

STEP 4: Continue to check your degree audit!!!

If any requirements are listed as unsatisfied you will not graduate! Follow up on any outstanding requirements with your department or your record analyst to find out what you need to do in order to satisfy the requirement. Continue to check your degree audit until all of your requirements are listed as satisfied. If you have any questions, contact your department or your record analyst at AcademicRecords@scu.edu.
