Ancient Studies alumna helps teens explore college opportunities

Kat minored in Ancient Studies while at SCU. She sent this update:

After graduating from SCU, I began working as a costume designer for Bakersfield College, worked at PG&E as a project manager, and then attended Mt. St. Mary's University for my MBA. I started my business helping students apply to colleges that fit them, focusing mainly on introducing them to all of the opportunities different colleges have to offer. As I'm in a county that has low educational attainment, I wanted students to have the opportunities that I did at SCU and other liberal arts colleges that educate the whole person. I'm proud to say that I've published a book, Put College to Work, am working on my second, and have a thriving educational consulting firm (March Consulting). We recently launched a podcast, Majorly Undecided, to introduce students to the paths of community leaders and professionals in an effort to change the conversation about how a major translates to a career. I want students to focus on skills they can develop and to realize that a career isn't a straight line. The critical thinking and research skills I gained in my study of Classics have served me well in every job I've had, made me stand out at the top of my class in graduate school, and have made me successful in starting my own business.
