Senior Classical Studies major shares her hopes and exciting plans for 2021

I am a senior at SCU with a major in Classical Studies and a double minor in Italian and Dance. I enjoy studying Classics because it combines my two favorite subjects: history and language. This allows me to further immerse myself into the classical world through first accounts in ancient dialect. With this degree, I hope to become a museum curator where I can oversee various artifacts and art while continuously learning about and surrounding myself with my love of Classical history. To take a step in this direction, in 2021, I will be attending a field school at the Museo Egizio, where I will be learning about the duties and expectations that come with this type of job and a side benefit will be practicing my Italian. My dance minor has kept me quite active. For the past two years, I have been the assistant choreographer at Bellarmine College Preparatory in their musicals: Newsies, and The Drowsy Chaperone. Last year, I had a Thriving Neighbors fellowship with the Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education to teach dance to fourth and fifth graders at the Sacred Heart Center. Finally, for the last year, I have been a performer in The Water Project with a team of professional dancers and choreographers where we explored the importance of water. This show will be performing in the spring of 2021.
