Environmental Studies, 2017
I have taken a number of classes primarily focused on food and agriculture but I’ve also taken classes including such great topics as water resources, climate justice, and more.
In terms of research, I’m working with Chris Bacon and Iris Stewart-Frey on food and water security in Nicaragua. I traveled to Nicaragua in July of 2016 to help with community-based water monitoring and GIS mapping. I recently presented a poster at the 2017 Association of American Geographers conference with Chris and Iris titled "Assessing water resources for climate adaptation through community based water monitoring in rural Nicaragua.” My favorite part of ESS is how insightful, inspiring and helpful all of the professors are both inside and outside the classroom. After graduation I'm planning to move to Santa Cruz and work in the sustainable agriculture field.
