Professional Paths Into Italian Design

On January 28, 2026, the Italian Studies Program hosted a presentation, “Your Professional Path Into Italian Design,” featuring Gabriel Zangari, Managing Director of Design Group Italia in New York, who spoke about what the European Design Institute offers students interested in design. Daniela Mazza, Educational Attaché at the Italian Consulate of San Francisco (CA), was also present and provided valuable information on visas and degree equivalencies.

The presentation resonated strongly with the many Italian Studies students in attendance. Of particular interest were the insights shared by a Senior design professional at Google, who spoke about her personal career path and professional success.

The conversation on global design and Made in Italy will continue in the upcoming summer course “Global Contributions of Italian Design” (online, Science, Technology and Society core) and in ITAL 198 Italian Internship course (offered in winter quarter & open to all Italian Studies majors/minors).

This event is part of the Italian Studies Program’s broader efforts to equip students with interdisciplinary, global competencies and to create professional opportunities that build on their linguistic skills and intercultural expertise in Italian Studies.
