Senior Kate Knight to attend Grad School in Paris

Kate Knight has been accepted to the IÉSEG School of Management, to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Fashion Management in partnership with Istituto Marangoni.

Kate is majoring in French Studies, Communication and Retail Studies at SCU. She has been accepted to the IÉSEG School of Management (Paris campus), to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Fashion Management in partnership with Istituto Marangoni.

“Growing up in a South African-American household, I have always been encouraged by my family to explore the world beyond the bubble that is the United States. Naturally, it became clear to me early on in my academic career at SCU that dedicating a large portion of my studies to a language and culture different from my own would be a priority.

The French & Francophone Studies program has helped me accomplish that goal beyond what I could have ever imagined. Not only have I improved my French fluency immensely, but I have taken classes that explore business culture, social justice, and contemporary topics in France, all of which have opened my eyes to the world beyond life in the US.

In addition to the classes that I have taken at SCU, I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Paris last Fall through the IES French Studies program. There, I took five courses across several disciplines, including Art History, French History, and Gender Politics in France, all taught entirely in French. That experience solidified my desire to continue this cultural exploration beyond my time at SCU, and ultimately lead me to this new adventure.

I could not be more excited to continue my education in a field that I am deeply passionate about, all while immersing myself in French culture and living in the heart of the fashion world!”
