Studying English at SCU isn't just about learning how to write well. It's understanding how to communicate effectively and how to make your opinion relevant.

Studying English at SCU isn't just about learning how to write well.  It's understanding how to communicate effectively and how to make your opinion relevant.  I was challenged by what is a rigorous curriculum, but also given the freedom to focus on what I was passionate about.  The skills I developed have helped me stand out in the competitive fields of law and politics: I have worked for the U.N., a Member of Congress, the state legislature, and the state supreme court.  I now litigate in the public interest and serve on the board of directors of several nonprofits.  An English major is whatever you want it to be.
