Writer at Microsoft

A degree in English launched my incredible professional journey. Studying English developed and honed my writing skills. It taught me to think analytically. It helped me develop confidence to pursue creativity in fields otherwise devoid of it.

A degree in English launched my incredible professional journey. Studying English developed and honed my writing skills. It taught me to think analytically. It helped me develop confidence to pursue creativity in fields otherwise devoid of it. Above all, earning an English degree taught me to learn continuously and to contribute. That became the foundation for all my professional successes in the writing, editing, managing, and teaching jobs I've held. Whether it was writing video scripts, editing science curriculum, managing teams of writers, or developing cutting-edge classes for pilots, I can attribute my professional successes to what I experienced studying English at SCU and to the extremely valuable mentoring I received from some exceptional professors. Their insights continue to teach and guide me more than 25 years after my graduation.
