Koret Fellowships 2017-2018

Paloma Contreras Fellowship 17-18
Paloma Contreras
Psychology major, Class of 2019

During my time as a Children’s Services Coordinator (CSC) Intern, I will interact with
and learn about the homeless community, particularly the homeless youth population.
Specifically, I will gain valuable administrative skills by helping operate and manage the
Achieving Career and Educational Success (ACES) program, which aims to empower children and young adults, who have experienced the stress and uncertainty of homelessness, to achieve higher education. And, I will develop interpersonal skills by directly interacting with children and their parents who are undergoing a stressful time in their lives. These experiences will ultimately help me learn about the struggles homeless families go through and the interventions used to help them.
