What was your college experience like as a first-generation college student?
As a first gen transfer student, I was nervous. I always felt like I was playing catch-up or piecing the puzzles together to figure things out. Along the way, I found an incredible support system through professors, staff, classmates and LEAD. I allowed myself to experience all the achievements and failures to learn from them during my journey.
What message do you have to share with current first-generation college students?
You deserve to be here. Just remember that there will be mistakes and triumphs along the way but those are all a part of the story that one day you will look back on. Enjoy every moment as time quickly passes by and remember to have fun!
