What was your college experience like as a first-generation college student?
Initially difficult to navigate since I did not have someone in my family to help guide me through financial aid, course articulations when transferring, finding a mentor, etc. Luckily I was part of SJSU's EOP program that connected me with that guidance.
What message do you have to share with current first-generation college students?
Connect with other first-gen students. Find a mentor and stick with them, even after graduating! Once you build that network, do not be shy to ask questions and continue to share resources with each other.
