Very difficult, felt marginalized and very much alone in the world.
What message do you have to share with current first-generation college students?
Must value your process and believe in yourself regardless of negative experiences. Believe that you will do something important in life and pave the way for others to have the same opportunity. Do not allow anyone to make you feel as if you don't belong in higher education. Defend you ability to lead and learn--be a lifelong learner.
