What was your college experience like as a first-generation college student?
I loved being in class and lab but I felt I had less direction than my peers-- they all seemed to have a clear plan, I was just happy to be at college. It took some time to get my feet under me and find my mentors.
What message do you have to share with current first-generation college students?
Find mentors among the faculty and staff-- especially those that understand what it is like to be first gen. You can do this, this really can change the direction of your life, I am proof it can.
