What was your college experience like as a first-generation college student?
I found the whole college experience very overwhelming at first. I was incredibly lucky to join the Biology Scholars Program for first generation students. With their support, I learned how to go about applying to work in a research lab and that changed the trajectory of my career forever.
What message do you have to share with current first-generation college students?
Build your support network, they will be there for you through the roller coaster of your college education and beyond. They are those people who will remind you how amazing you are even if you feel knocked down or when those imposter feelings arise.
