About OLLI Travel

Goal

The goal of OLLI@SCU’s Learning Through Travel program is to provide OLLI@SCU members, Santa Clara University Alumni, and Friends and Family of Santa Clara University fifty years of age or better with an exciting combination of discovery, learning, and adventure through educationally oriented travel. Please Note: You MUST be a current Osher member to travel with OLLI@SCU.  Click here to register for membership.

Destination

We listen! On every trip evaluation, we ask where you would like to travel next and take that information into consideration when planning the following year’s trips. We offer a diverse selection of trips including cruises (ocean and river), land trips, and trips that combine both. Our trips are offered at a variety of activity levels and prices. We specialize in small group tours, and whenever possible offer them as OLLI@SCU exclusive trips.

Lifelong Learning

An educational component is a significant part of our program. Often, faculty lecturers accompany our trips, and we partner with tour oper- ators who provide informative local lecturers to enhance your vacation. Travel in and of itself is a learning experience. Broaden your under- standing of cultures, history, politics, and the natural world by traveling with OLLI @ SCU.

Bronco Connection

Many of our travelers enjoy being with people who have Santa Clara University in common. Enjoy the enduring bond of friendships formed by traveling with other SCU alumni and OLLI members.

Physical Requirements

All participants must be in good physical and mental health and able to keep up with the pace of their group. They are expected to enjoy traveling as part of a group and to be tolerant of the occasional changes, delays, or minor mishaps that are part of any kind of travel. Those requiring special assistance must be accompanied by someone who can and will provide all required assistance.

Trip Descriptions

Mild Easy pace, a little walking, relatively little stair climbing.
Moderate Faster pace, substantial distances walked, and stairs climbed.
Active Fast pace, long-distance walking/hiking (not for those who can’t keep up with a quick pace throughout the trip.)
